CMO means “Chief Marketing Officer”, so outsourced CMO services means we are supporting you in marketing strategy, analytics, planning, and/or implementation. It likely follows the same approach as the Outsourced CFO service you offer to your clients.
How much support you need depends on your strategy, and your marketing budget. The first step is to discover what gaps exist in your marketing, and once you know what these gaps are, it will be clear what level of monthly support you need.
Most firms start at the $2800 or $4k/mo level, as you can always upgrade or bolt-on more credits later. We encourage you to choose the level that stretches you a little, and represents your ambitions, but doesn’t push you too far beyond what’s possible for your firm.
You can start with a monthly retainer straight away; however, we still need to know your gaps and build the plan. This means the first month (or two) of your relationship would need to be invested in determining where to focus so you get the best ROI on your marketing investment.
If you start with Outsourced CMO, the first 2 months of the this relationship is to complete the Gap Analysis (including the research, strategy, and plan).
The question is whether you want to do the one-time project and then decide on monthly work; or if you know now that you’re ready to move directly into implementation after the Gap Analysis, with no delay.
Absolutely. There’s a base level of fee ($1k/mo) to cover the strategic relationship, analytics review, continued tracking, reporting, project management, comms and meetings. You can add to this base level a budgeted amount for marketing implementation – for example an additional $2k, $3k, etc. We use “marketing credits” to track implementation – learn more about our credit system here.
First, you can still start with the Gap Analysis to understand where your biggest areas of opportunity are, and what your marketing priority is. You’re not obliged to sign up for monthly services afterwards, although most people do.
Second, if you’re not ready for that level of investment yet, you can join the monthly Marketing Lab community, which gives you access to the PF team and your fellow accountants. You’ll also be able to join any intake of the Marketing Accelerator coaching group while you are in the Lab. The Lab is $125/month on a rolling basis.
Third, we do have an Entry Level/DIY option available for small, startup firms with a lower budget and who intend to do most of the marketing actions yourself (with support from us and AI). Fill in the discovery form to tell us more.
